Plumber
Garsfontein

Plumber in Garsfontein, across Atterbury Road from Faerie Glen, for geysers, leaks, blocked drains and the low pressure that follows a reservoir running down. The call-out fee is stated when you book, and leak detection starts at the meter, not with a hammer.

Every service, in every Garsfontein extension

The City lists Garsfontein as “all extensions” in its notices, and the call-out area is the same. Pick the fault to read the page behind it.

Garsfontein runs on the reservoir the City calls its holding reservoir in the east

The Garsfontein Reservoir is, in the City’s words, “the holding reservoir in the east”, and Rekord reported in January 2023 that it serves almost 40% of the City, the Menlyn precinct included. When it is full, nobody gives it a thought. When it runs low, the higher streets feel it first.

Very little of that water starts in Tshwane. The City’s Rietvlei plant supplies just over 9% of the reservoir and the rest comes from Rand Water. In February 2025 a lightning strike took Rietvlei offline, and in January 2023 Rand Water sent no overnight supply for several days, until the reservoir had dropped to 23%.

The high-lying parts of Garsfontein are fed through the Parkmore high-level reservoir, which the City says supplies the high-lying areas of Menlyn, Garsfontein and the surrounding suburbs. The pattern in its notices is consistent: elevated neighbourhoods lose water first, get it back last, and are warned to expect low pressure for a while after supply is restored.

For a house, the recovery period is when the trouble starts. Air comes out of the taps in bursts, grit lodges in aerators and valves, and a geyser that stayed switched on may have been heating a half-empty tank. A joint that was weeping quietly can start dripping properly once full pressure returns.

None of that is a fault in your plumbing to begin with. It does help to know which supply zone your street is in, because the City writes its notices by reservoir rather than by suburb, and Garsfontein turns up under more than one of them.

Read the City’s notices by reservoir name: Garsfontein, Parkmore HL and Constantia Park LL have all appeared in notices that reached parts of Garsfontein.

Where Garsfontein meets Faerie Glen

Atterbury Road (M11) is the line between the two suburbs, with Faerie Glen to the north and Garsfontein to the south. Garsfontein Road (M30) and January Masilela Drive (M33) cut across both, and the Moreleta Spruit runs through a green belt in Garsfontein on its way north to Roodeplaat Dam.

Laerskool Garsfontein and Hoërskool Garsfontein are both here. Moreleta Park lies beyond Garsfontein to the south, and Constantia Park and Waterkloof Glen are its western neighbours.

Garsfontein questions

Answers specific to this side of Atterbury Road.

What does a plumber cost in Garsfontein?

The call-out fee for your street is stated when you book, and the repair is priced before any work starts. Published Pretoria market rates, each with its source and date, are set out on the plumbing prices page.

Why does Garsfontein lose water when Rand Water works on its system?

Because most of the Garsfontein Reservoir’s water is Rand Water’s. The City’s own Rietvlei plant supplies just over 9% of it, so once Rand Water pumping stops, the reservoir has little else to draw on and its level falls.

Is low pressure after an outage a plumbing fault?

Not straight away. The City warns that high-lying areas recover last and that pressure can stay low after supply returns. If one tap stays weak while the rest are fine, or your pressure stays low after the neighbours have recovered, it is probably on your side, and a gauge reading settles it.

Which Garsfontein extensions do you cover?

All of them, the same way the City’s notices list Garsfontein: all extensions. Faerie Glen, Moreleta Park, Constantia Park and Waterkloof Glen are covered too.

Who do I tell about sewage in the Moreleta Spruit green belt?

The City. A sewer servitude runs beside the spruit, and Rekord has reported raw sewage entering the Moreleta Spruit near Murrayfield since December 2024. Report spills to sewerblockages@tshwane.gov.za or 012 358 9999. A blocked drain on your own property is a different matter, and ours to clear.
